Space and Installation

An adult focuses and perceives information and other matters when they enter into a space, while a baby does not focus on anything and perceives all with the body and its growing senses.
This means that it is necessary to create a space where a baby who is sensitive to the environment much more than an adult can relate to the art through the five senses.
The space (Baby Theatre Space) that artists provide for babies should be prepared with abundant appeals to their five senses, and should be created with abundant choices and freedom for babies to perceive all the while.
We consider that Baby Theatre should be prepared as an artistic space where babies can see various things like trees, sky, flowers, leaves, and so on, and sense or feel lights, shadows, wind, temperature, smell, human movement, birds, insects, leaves that swing, and other treasures. When they enter a Baby Theatre space, it is as if they enter a garden.
It is an adult’s egoism to take babies to an empty space and tell them to watch only the performer, as such a production is not utilizing the strength of babies attempting to perceive the world fully with their own bodies and senses.
We should consider it mandatory to prepare an artistic space that approaches all the senses in three-dimensional abundance, taking into consideration that it is the nature of babies to open all senses and perceive fully.
It is also important that babies can relate to performers and installations, moving and touching them freely, as their curiosity leads without any restraints while in the Baby Theatre space.
In other words, it is mandatory that the installation and space are safe and secure even if babies touch them, and the more varied the installation’s materials are, the more rich the babies’ experiences become.
Also, a baby can relate more to a performer, parents, other babies, and other parents through installation.
Furthermore, a performer can transform the various sceneries of the space and have babies experience them while they simply enjoy the movement of installation when a performer does so dynamically and sensitively.
And in doing so, it is very effective to increase the richness of baby’s experiences, driving their dynamic curiosity even more.
