International co-creation project between Japan and Sweden
『Wind’s dream』
The Baby Theatre production, “Wind’s Dream,” was performed as an international collaboration between Japan and Sweden.
The theme is Wabi-Sabi, an aesthetic sense in Japanese art centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection.
Wabi-Sabi is a specific sensibility to Japanese culture.
Since it’s been difficult to embrace in our daily life in contemporary society, especially in big cities, we wanted to create a time and place that babies and adults can embrace the aesthetics of imperfection.
Trace of Our Creation:
-
We came up with images and words associated with the theme, “wabi-sabi” and talked about the moments we had felt “wabi-sabi” in daily life.
-
Then we chose several keywords that can create scenes among them. Also, we discussed which elements, such as: bodies, installations, sounds, lights, and smells, can be the best expression for each scene.
-
Lastly we made a list of responses we wanted to evoke in babies and adults individually from each scene’s contents, time, and title.
